Newington were promoted from the Lough 41 Premier Intermediate League to the Lough 41 Championship, finishing 7 points clear of Bangor to secure immediate promotion. Their opening game seen them beat Dergview 4-1 at home, before drawing away to Ballinamallard and Institute at home. They've also lost 1-0 away to Knockbreda and, on Saturday past, suffered a 4-1 home defeat to joint league leaders Annagh United. |

United opened their season with a 2-2 draw at home to Glenavon, going on to beat Dungannon Swifts 2-0 at Stangmore Park, and have lost their last 3 games on the trot in Cliftonville, Larne and Linfield. This leaves United in 9th spot, a point behind Glenavon and a point ahead of newly promoted Newry City. |
