Since defeating United in November, Carrick have failed to win any league games, drawing two and losing 7. With 20 points in the bag, Carrick sit 10th in the Danske Bank Premiership after 23 games, 2 behind Dungannon Swifts and 7 clear of Portadown.

The Amber Army also defeated Ballyclare Comrades away from home in the 1st round of this seasons Samuel Gelston's Whiskey Irish Cup, with a home tie against Cliftonville to be played in February.

In the same period United have won 7 games in the league and lost 3, and are now on a winning run of 6 games at home. The Sky Blues sit 7th in the Danske Bank Premiership, level on points with Coleraine who have a game in hand, and 8 clear of Glenavon.
