Portadown have struggled for form since the start of the season, winning a single league game early in October, drawing their opening game and losing 5.

They've fared better in cup competition though, defeating Dollingstown 2-0 in the Mid-Ulster Cup and Newington YC 2-0 in the BetMcLean League Cup, both at Shamrock Park.
Ballymena United:
Similarly, United have won just one league game, a 4-3 battle at home to Dungannon Swifts in late September, drawing 1-1 against Glenavon and losing their other 5 games. This leaves the Sky Blues in 9th place in the table, level with the Ports but ahead on goal difference.

Again, Ballymena have fared much better in cup competition, sailing past Harland & Wolff Welders with a 2-0 win at home in the 1st round of the Toals Co Antrim Shield, defeating Annagh United 4-2 in the 2nd round of the BetMcLean League Cup, then securing a spot in the quarter finals with a 3-2 win over Crusaders at Seaview on Wednesday evening thanks to a late extra-time Jonte Smith goal.
