They defeated both Newry City and Limavady United in the BetMcLean League Cup to set up a semi-final away to Coleraine in December.

After the opening day defeat, it took United a month to get their first league win, beating Dungannon Swifts 4-3 with goals from Christopher Rodgers, Caolan Loughran, Leroy Millar and Jonte Smith securing the comeback. 4 wins and 5 defeats in the league since then have pushed Ballymena up to 8th place, 2 points behind Carrick Rangers with a game in hand.

Wins over Annagh United, Crusaders and, most recently, Linfield in the BetMcLean League Cup see the Braidmen travel to Solitude to face Cliftonville in the semi-finals in December.
