BALLYMENA United are delighted to announce the signing of Ryan Waide. The 20-year-old forward broke through the ranks at Linfield, and spent last season on loan at Dungannon Swifts.
Manager David Jeffrey was delighted to bolster his attacking options at the opening of the window, "he's a young man of great talent, ability and pace. Everything was going well for him at Linfield until he had an unfortunate car accident which knocked him back a bit. Obviously football doesn’t stand still for anybody, and over that period other players came in and Ryan went out on loan. Once we were alerted to his availability then Bryan didn't hesitate in making contact and it went from there. He's an exciting talent who has suffered some misfortune but is now fit and ready to grasp the opportunity. He is versatile - he can play through the middle, wide and off the front man - and his attitude and desire to come and join us at Ballymena was most pleasing, and is always reassuring to see in a player."
Bryan McLoughlin, who was instrumental in bringing Waide to the club, said "he's a young lad who was a long time at Linfield, but both he and they recognised he needed an opportunity for for more game time. He was very well thought of there and then went on to enjoy a loan at Dungannon Swifts last year and getting time on the pitch. He comes here in hope and expectation of more game time. He's enthusiastic, quick, an eye for goal and made it clear he wanted to come here to fulfil his potential. Other clubs enquired about him due to his credentials, but he wanted his next step to be with David and I here. Negotiations didn't take long and we’re delighted to have him."
Waide will play number 16 this season.
