Waide extends contract
Uploaded Thursday, 26th Aug, 2021 at 20:41

BALLYMENA United are delighted to announce that Ryan Waide has signed a new two year extension to his contract with the club, taking him up to 2024.
The 21-year-old forward was an ever present in his debut season, making 38 appearances. His form earned call ups to the Northern Ireland U21's, where "Rooster" scored on his debut against Scotland. He recently earned call ups to face Malta and Slovakia in the UEFA U21 Euro qualifiers.
Manager David Jeffrey was very happy to be able to announce the news, "we're delighted to be able to announce this evening that Ryan Waide has agreed to extend. Ryan had endured a horrific time after such a bright start as a youngster, first with a car crash and then immediately breaking a bone on his return. But we knew his potential and he fitted right into the mould of the player we always are looking for - young, talented and ready to bust a gut to realise their full potential, sometimes against such adversity. Whilst we may have given him the opportunity, it was up to him to grab it and use it to propel himself forward as a player. You don't just have to look at his performances this past year, you can also see from his call ups to the Northern Ireland U21's that he's working hard and seizing this opportunity.
What is most pleasing is that it took less than five minutes to sit down with him and agree to extend his time here. It is tremendous when a player shows such willingness to commit to the club in such a fashion."
