Youth talent promoted

Ballymena United are delighted to promote four of our young talents to the senior squad.
Spencer Beattie (18), Arynn Annett (18), Jordan McMullan (17) and Dean Lewis (19) all spent time training with the first team in the summer build up to the Irish Cup semi final and pre-season friendlies.

Manager David Jeffrey was pleased to reward the progress of the young players, 'for us going forward it is vitally important that we are producing home grown players. I have to pay particular thanks to Bryan McLoughlin, Thomas McDonald, Nathan McConnell and David Hanna who been working hard on your youth development plans to bring these players through. We worked together to identify a group who would train with, and be part of the senior squad and get them used to that first team environment.
These are young men who are deserving of that breakthrough chance, who see that it's a pathway to senior football and that there is a bright future here at Ballymena United. To take just one example, it is pleasing to look at the journey of Jordan McMullan who has been here since the age of nine, and he's the type of player that we want to be giving this opportunity to. The landscape in local football has changed massively, and it seems to be that everything has to result in immediate reward, but we want to make sure we're also investing in the long term future of the club by bringing these lads in, integrating them into the Ballymena United way, and hopefully in years to come this approach will continue to bear fruit.
We're already identifying the next tranche of young players with the likes of Craig Farquhar, Jack McCutcheon and Dylan Graham, who have already spent time training and playing with the first team already, and we want to continue to be proactive in producing and developing young local talent through to our first team.'
