JIMMY Brown took over the reigns at the Showgrounds but could only manage a seventh place finish in the Irish League. However pressure was on the former Carrick Rangers boss early on in the season after very poor showings in the early season Ulster and Gold Cups. Seemingly, Brown's only saving grace in the first half of the season was a run to the final of the County Antrim Shield. However, the Sky Blues fell to Distillery in the final, losing 3-1. Come December, their form picked up for the League campaign and despite lacking consistency the Braidmen picked up a number of high-scoring wins, but could only finish mid-table after a poor run of results towards the end - only four points off third place. The Irish Cup specialists could only reach the quarter-finals this year, after being dumped out by Jim Platt's Coleraine side at the Ballycastle Road.
