Hubert BARR
Born: Ballymena; 17th May, 1935
Under-21 Caps: 1 cap for Northern Ireland 'B'
The only Ballymena United player ever to win a 'B' International cap and also the only United player to represent the club at the Olympic games.

Born in Ballymena, his first senior club was Ballyclare Comrades, he then moved onto Cliftonville - where he won the first of his league representative honours. A move to Loughborough College followed.

Everton signed Hugh after he starred in the British Universities team in the mid 50's, but returned home to Northern Ireland after failing to break into the team. He returned home and signed for Coleriane, winning the Gold Cup in 1958.

A move to hometown club Ballymena United in the late 50's provided further honours; firstly his first and only 'B' international cap against France, in which he scored Northern Ireland's only goal. He also was selected for the Great Britain and Northern Ireland squad for the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome.

After winning the Ulster Cup in 1961, scoring 40 goals in one season, he was signed by Linfield and was part of the historic 'Seven Trophy' team which won every piece of silverware going in 1961/62. He spent one season at Windsor Park before moving back to England to play for Coventry City.

He went onto win 3 full international caps for Northern Ireland, scoring one goal (against England). He was also manager of Cambridge United for a period.
