IF Aaron 'Archie' Stewart needs any advice of the rigours of being an Irish League centre-half, he need look no further than his father.

Throughout the nineties his father, Alfie, was a no-nonsense centre-half for Glentoran, Portadown and Coleraine before finishing his career at Ballymena United in 2003. It was at this time he enlisted his son in the club's blossoming Youth Academy.

In the six years that have passed since Archie joined the club, he has progressed rapidly through the Academy to the First Team; he was also a key member of David Dorrian's 2007 Reserve League Championship winning side.

Stewart made his first-team debut in September 2009 against Glentoran at the Oval and despite strong competition for places in the centre of the Ballymena United defence, Archie impressed many onlookers, making 18 appearances in his debut season.

With a full year's experience in the Irish League under his belt, hopes are high for the versitile young defender to shine this season.
