SEAN O'Neill's patience between the sticks at United has paid off as Roy Walker has intrusted him with the number one jersey this season following the departure of Alan Blayney.

The West-Belfast goalkeeper joined the club in March 2005 following a short spell at Glentoran and was a key part of the 2007 Reserve League Championship side, winning the Players' Player of the Year. Sean also made his first team debut late that season against Loughgall at home.

Disaster struck the following season for O'Neill, who also played Gaelic football for Antrim Minors, when after a knock to his head had to have brain surgery to remove a build-up of fluid on his brain; this ultimately ruled him out of football for the rest of the season.

Testiment to his character, he bounced back last season to make a handful of appearances in the first-team which were only restricted by the impressive form of Alan Blayney. His form earned him a call-up to the Northern Ireland Under-21 and earned his first cap against Ukraine last season.

The talented custodian, nicknamed 'Ogers' now has the chance to prove his worth at Warden Street this season in Roy Walker's new look side.
