SCOTTISH striker Kevin Kelbie has firmly established himself as one of United's best players in the last decade due to his impressive goalscoring record at the Showgrounds.

The Stirling born forward started his career with Glasgow Celtic before having short spells at Rangers, Alloa Athletic and also in America with Northern Oklahoma College. He moved to Belfast in 2005 to work and spent that summer training with Glentoran before being released by Roy Coyle without making an appearance.

Tommy Wright took a chance in the young striker but he made a slow start to his Braid career, despite a last minute winner on his debut. A late winner against his former club, Glentoran, in December 2005 sparked in season into gear as he finished top goalscorer at the club with 16 goals and also scored the only goal as United narrowly lost in the final of the County Antrim Shield to Linfield.

Over the next four seasons, Kelbie continually proved himself to be one of the most dangerous marksmen in the Irish League with nearly 60 goals in just over 140 games - which attracted the interest of a number of clubs, which proved unsettling for the forward who returned back to live in his native Scotland last year.

However, ahead of the new season the United vice-captain is raring to go and prove his worth and loyality to the United supporters by doing what he does best - scoring goals!
