DESPITE joining from Coleraine five years ago, Gary Haveron has established himself as a true fans favourite and also the club captain in recent years.

The likeable Larne born player began his career with Crusaders before moving to England where he had spells with Bolton Wanderers and Wolves, but failed to break into the first team of either side and eventually returned to the Irish League in September 2002 with Lisburn Distillery.

After an impressive first season with Distillery, he joined Coleraine in 2003 and spent two seasons at the Ballycastle Road side, appearing in an Irish Cup Final in 2004 where he played regularly in both defence and midfield.

In May 2005, Gary became Tommy Wright's first signing as Ballymena United manager and instantly won over the supporters with his whole-hearted style of play which has seen him make nearly 150 appearances for the Sky Blues.

Despite breaking his leg last Christmas, Gary bounced back and was rewarded with a new 3-year contract in the summer and would like nothing more than to lead his club to their first trophy in two decades.
