MO McDOWELL STEPS UP
(Thursday, 3rd June, 2010)

UNITED's hectic summer continues with the arrival of winger Maurice McDowell from Ballymena SML side, Carniny Rangers.

The 25-year-old winger returns to the Showgrounds, where he played for both the youth team and reserve side before moving to Liverpool for University four years ago.

McDowell returned to Ballymena last summer and signed for Carniny Rangers where he picked up a First Division winner's medal in the Saturday Morning League, winning many admirers with his displays down either flank.

The Harryville man turned down the advances of a number of other Irish League clubs, including Linfield to sign a one-year-contract with his hometown club.

Nicknamed 'Mo', McDowell brings the number of new arrivals at Warden Street this summer to six; along with Denver Gage, Richard Gibson, Ryan Berry, Gary McCutcheon and Ryan Brown.
