RYAN BROWN IS LATEST ARRIVAL
(Monday, 17th May, 2010)

UNITED have completed the signing of Larne goalkeeper Ryan Brown on a one year contract.

Brown swept the board at the end-of-season awards at the Inver Park club and was widely regarded as the best goalkeeper in the Championship last term in his first season at Larne.

Ryan had spent eight seasons at Bangor after making his debut as a teenager in 2002, but only got to experience football in the top division for one season in 2008/2009, which was marred by injury after breaking his ankle whilst on duty for the Northern Ireland Junior International side.

Brown's arrival could spell the end for one or even both of last season's first-team goalkeepers Dwayne Nelson and Sean O’Neill.

He is the club's fourth major signing of the summer following Richard Gibson (Coleraine), Ryan Berry (Glentoran) and Denver Gage (Ballymoney United) through the entrance to the Showgrounds.

* Club captain Gary Haveron has also taken a voluntary wage cut, a gesture which has been greatly appreciated by the club and is an indication of the character of the United midfielder.
