BALLYMENA United Thirds captured the IFA Youth League Cup after an impressive three goal victory over Glentoran Colts.

It was a major upset for the form book for Melvyn Logan's side against a Glentoran side which have been contesting at the top of the IFA Youth League all season.

However the final played at Crewe Park in Glenavy, witnessed an ultimately one sided encounter with captain Lee McCaughren opening the scoring early on and late goals from Ross Nelson and Michael Smith sealed the win against the ten-man Glens.

It's back-to-back trophies for United's Thirds after winning the Harry Cavan Youth Cup last season.
