STOCK CARS DAMAGE TO GOAL-POSTS
(Saturday, 29th August, 2009)

A WAYWARD stock-car has caused extensive damage to the goalposts at the Ballymena Showgrounds last night.

Reports suggest that the incident took place on Friday night's meeting when one of the cars went straight through the netting and into the goalpost - damaging both beyond repair.

Ironically Ballymena United had been due to play Glenavon today at the Showgrounds, but the game was moved back to Tuesday (1st) night due to the annual Black parade in the town.

The club have already expressed concerns this season as regards the state of the pitch in their previous Saturday home games following the racing on a Friday night where a number of extended tyre tracks have caused concern for player's safety.

Despite early concerns, Tuesday night's League clash with Glenavon will be going ahead until further notice.
