TWO OUT, ONE IN
(Monday, 4th August, 2008)

THE EVER-CHANGING squad at the Showgrounds took another reshuffle this weekend with the departure of two young fringe players, and a new loan signing coming in through the revolving doors.

Firstly, midfielder Stephen Lowry has joined former club Limavady United on a permanent deal, after just over 18 months at the Warden Street.

Lowry, 21, was signed by Tommy Wright from Limavady United in January 2007 in a swap deal involving Austin Friel. He is also a member of the Ireland Universities squad and travelled to the World Student Games in Thailand last year.

He handed in a transfer request two weeks ago, as his chances of first-team action looked to be restricted for this coming season. Stephen made 40 appearances for Ballymena United scoring 3 goals.

Also heading to the Limavady Showgrounds, is Reserve team striker Randal Reid - who has seemingly fallen down the pecking order among the forwards at the Braid.

The 22-year-old Randalstown man is joining the IFA Championship side on loan for the remainder of the season.

Reid made his debut for the Sky Blues in April 2005, and has made 30 appearances for United, scoring 4 goals and has also been leading scorer for the Reserves for the last three seasons.

Meanwhile, the loan deal for Bohemians' midfielder Michael McGinlay has finally been completed.

McGinlay, son of former Bolton and Scotland forward, John, has signed a loan deal until January after receiving international clearance from the League of Ireland.

The 20-year-old winger began his career at Manchester City, before moving to America for a spell and then emerged at Bohemians in July 2007.

Michael appeared as a second half substitute in last Thursday's win over Raceview at Broughshane and could feature in next Saturday’s JJB Sports IFA Premiership opener against Glentoran.
