BROWN SIGNS FOR LIMAVADY
(Friday, 11th January, 2008)

LIMAVADY United have signed Ballymena United striker Paul Brown for an undisclosed fee.

The big powerhouse forward has returned to his hometown club on a two-year-contract, after spending two years at Ballymena United.

After scoring numerous goals in his first spell at Limavady, ironically under Tommy Wright, he earned a full-time move to Sligo Rovers in the Eircom League in 2005.

However, less than a year after his big money move down south he was rescued by former boss, Wright, who brought him to the Warden Street Showgrounds in January 2006 for an undisclosed fee.

He made his United debut against Loughgall in late January, 2006, which was the first of 39 appearances in Ballymena blue; in which he scored a disappointing six goals.

Unfortunate injuries curtailed his progress at the Braid, breaking his foot last season in an innocuous training ground incident and more recently horrifically breaking his elbow on the stock car track against Linfield in September.

The 27-year-old forward will be remembered for his whole-hearted style of play, but will look to get his career back on track with the Irish Premier League strugglers, under the management of former Ballymena defender, Ollie Mullan.

He becomes the first move in the transfer window for Tommy Wright, as the newly appointed manager of the month is actively searching for a new striker.

Rumours have been surrounding a number of Ballymena players recently, however there has been no other movement in or out of Warden Street – as defenders Aaron Callaghan and Johnny Flynn are still Ballymena players despite strong interest from Finn Harps and Blackburn Rovers, respectively.

Contary to a statement on the Bohemians website, striker Davitt Walsh has still not been signed on a permanent basis – however negotiations are still ongoing.
