TOMMY WRIGHT MANAGER OF THE MONTH
(Thursday, 10th January, 2008)

UNITED boss Tommy Wright's reward for United's unbeaten run is the Harp Lager Manager of the Month award.

The season is only half-way through but it has already been a highly eventful one for Wright at the Warden Street.

A poor start to the season and then a six game losing streak seen pressure mount on the former Northern Ireland goalkeeper from the United fans, however that suddenly turned into a remarkable 12 game unbeaten run, which still continues.

Then, only last week, he turned down an approach by Glenn Roeder at Norwich City to join his staff as a goalkeeping coach at the Championship club, however Wright remains at the Braid, and in his own words has 'unfinished business'.

Ballymena United went unbeaten in their six games over the final month of 2007; winning five of those games (Larne, Donegal Celtic, Lisburn Distillery, Institute and Newry City).

In winning this award, he becomes the first Ballymena boss to do so since Alan Fraser won the award ten years ago in October 1997 - after guiding his newly promoted Sky Blues to the top of the Irish League.

However, this isn't the first time Tommy has picked up the coveted award as he won the monthly accolade twice with his former club Limavady United - strangely enough in December 2003 and December 2004!

The Harp Lager player of the month went to George McMullan of Cliftonville.
