GAVIN Melaugh picked up his first award at Ballymena United; winning the November player of the month award.

The monthly award presented by the Seven Towers Ballymena United supporters club honoured the Londonderry midfielder for his excellent performances in the heart of the Sky Blues' midfield over the past month.

Gavin is approaching the end of his first year at Ballymena United having signed from Donegal Celtic last January, he also had spells at Aston Villa, Rochdale and Glentoran previously.

Two weeks ago he thought he had scored his first goal for United against Lisburn Distillery, only for the referee to abandon the game mid-way through the second half, but surely his first Ballymena goal cannot be too far away.

The award from United's biggest supporter's club, which celebrates it's 50th anniversary this season, was sponsored by Ivan Kirkpatrick and was overseen by Vice-Chairman, David McCaig.
