DISTILLERY GAME TO BE REPLAYED
(Tuesday, 4th December, 2007)

THE Irish Football Association have ruled that Saturday's abandoned game between Lisburn Distillery and Ballymena United will be replayed.

The Carnegie Premier League clash was thrown into doubt when one of the floodlights at New Grosvenor Park failed to work, after being disturbed through maintainence work the day before.

Referee Arnold Hunter, sought advice from both managers at half-time, and decided to let play continue with the scores level at a goal apeice.

Distillery struck again, with Johnny Flynn's wicked deflection wrong-footing goalkeeper Paul Murphy in the corner of darkness.

Soon after with 77 minutes played, Hunter called the game up.

The IFA met last night to hear the referee's report, which seemingly claimed that in the interest of health and safety as well as fair play, the game should have been abandonded and replayed at a later date.

The two sides have been given 28 days to replay the fixture, and it is likely to be played in the week commencing the 17th December, as the Sky Blues have two players on Northern Ireland Under-23 duty next week in Belgium.

Keep checking back www.ballymenaunitedfc.com for updates of when the replay will take place.
