David Jeffrey statement on Jonathan McMurray

Ordinarily I wouldn't comment on speculation in newspaper articles because as Dr Malcolm Brodie once said to me, "today's news is tomorrow night's fish and chip paper".
However, with the interest of our supporters at heart, it is only appropriate and correct that I respond to the unfounded comments by Jim Gracey in today's Belfast Telegraph, who has suggested that Ballymena United would "cash in" on Jonathan McMurray.
For the record, Linfield have had absolutely no contact with Ballymena United in relation to any offer for Jonathan. Furthermore, having spoken to Jonathan myself, Linfield have had no contact with him either, which would be a breach of league rules were it to happen.
Jonathan McMurray is a Ballymena United player, on a long term contract and is very happy at Ballymena United. Bryan McLoughlin and myself are more than looking forward to working with Jonathan to drive him and this club to full potential.
The days of suggesting that Ballymena United would cash in on our best players are long gone and for Mr Gracey to suggest otherwise, with no basis of fact, comes across as more than a little disrespectful.
