The Sky Blue's boss spoke to ballymenaunitedfc.com about his new signing, "Andrew is a young man who was always most impressive when he played against us for Dungannon. He is strong, quick, aggressive and uses the ball well. He is only 24 but has played an impressive number of Irish League games and to be honest we were very surprised to learn that he had become available, so we moved quickly. There were other interested parties, but the deal here was completed very quickly.
We want players who are hungry for success and want to test themselves, Andrew fits the bill perfectly. In a similar way to how we have seen Kyle Owens step out of his brother's shadow and into top flight football in his own right, Andrew has also done this and will look to step even further forward now here."
Andrew Burns echoed the manager's sentiments, "I'm delighted to sign for a massive club and my hope is that I am here to bring more success to Ballymena United. I have been a big fan of David and Bryan from a young age so it was a no brainer for me to come up here and sign. I will be looking to work hard and look forward to representing the club in, hopefully, another season to remember."
Jeffrey was also delighted at how the squad shapes up, "with right back as his preferred position, we are doing what we have always set out to do - create competition for places. We look to identify not only the right players, but also the right people, to compete for places with the need and the want to play regular football. In Andrew we are absolutely delighted with what he brings to the squad.
I always say that it takes a team to manage a team, and once again I particularly thank Doctor Brian Patterson and Sports Therapist Gordon McCartney for their expertise and thoroughness in completing the medical for Andrew."
