BALLYMENA United progressed safely to the quarter-finals of the Irish Cup after victory over Championship side Ballinamallard United at the Showgrounds. Mark Surgenor opened the scoring, but the Fermanagh side drew level after a superb free-kick from Cathal Beacom. The Braidmen put the game beyond doubt when Kevin Kelbie notched up a hat-trick and Gary Haveron also scored, whilst the visitors also managed a late consolation.
