CLIFTONVILLE STROLLERS 2-0 BALLYMENA UNITED THIRDS
(Saturday, 21st January, 2012; Harry Cavan IFA Youth Cup Quarter-Final)

BALLYMENA United Thirds bowed out of the Harry Cavan Youth Cup at the quarter-final stage after defeat to Cliftonville Strollers

The match was played in very difficult windy conditions and Ballymena struggled to break down a well organised defence.

United's first chance fell to Jamie Davidson after the ball was played through by Neil Lowry but his effort was just past the post.

The second half was just as tight with Cliftonville claiming most of the ball but Ballymena's defence seemed to be dealing with it well.

The first goal came 25 minutes into the scond half; Ballymena pushed to get back into the game but Cliftonville got their second goal five minutes later.

Ballymena got a chance to get back into the match from the penalty spot after Jamie Davidson (pictured) was brought down but the keeper made a good save.

Ballymena United Thirds: Chris Bradley (sub Conel Dooey), Corey Price, David Reid, Joe Morgan, Dermot McWilliams, Eoin Gillan, Caolan Gillan (sub Conor Martin), Jamie Fleming, Neil Lowry (sub Eamonn Kearns), Jamie Davidson, Gavin Kernohan.
