BALLYMENA UNITED RESERVES 4-2 LISBURN DISTILLERY
(Tuesday, 9th August, 2011; IFA Reserve League 1)

BALLYMENA United Reserves started their new IFA Reserve League season with a resounding win for new manager Clifford Adams.

Ballymena started the game well after a good piece of play by Micheal Smith down the left when he played a ball into the box only for the Distillery defence to half clear it to the edge of the box where Aaron Boyd hit a first time shot into the corner of the net to put United ahead on the 17th minute.

After the goal Ballymena took their foot of the gas and allowed Distillery into the game with a couple quick goals to send them in 2-1 up at half time.

The home side came out after the break and after a smart move involving Aaron Black and Eammon Murray released Neil Lowry in on goal to bring the scores level on the 48th minute.

After this the Sky Blues upped the tempo and started to dominate their Distillery opponents and Michael Smith made it 3-2 with a superb individual effort on the 63rd minute.

Neil Lowry finished off the game with a superb run and finish on the 78th minute when he beat three defenders and slotted it past the keeper from a tight angle for his side's forth goal.

Ballymena United Reserves: Dwayne Nelson, Corey Price, David Munster, Denver Gage, David Reid, Eamonn Murray, Aaron Black, Rory Carson, Michael Smith (sub Stephen Quigley 80), Aaron Boyd (sub Jamie Davidson 65), Neil Lowry (sub Johnnie McKee 73). Subs (not used): Aaron Harris.
