BALLYMENA United Reserves got back to winning ways with a 5-0 demolishing of Glenavon Reserves.

The young reserves faced a tough task against a Glenavon side with plenty of experience, but the Sky Blues were in complete control from the first minute to the last playing some terrific football.

United had the lead mid-way through the first half when after some great football; McNeill's delightful cross was headed powerfully into the goal by the impressive Jimmy Crawford after 22 minutes.

United got there second just before half time when Paudie Hearty's remarkable touch allowed himself room in the box and the Dundalk man made no mistake firing the ball into the net to make it 2-0 at half time.

United didnt drop there performance in the second half and it was 3-0 just after the hour when the outstanding Paudie Hearty chipped the ball over the out-rushing keeper, to give the Reserves a comfortable lead.

It was 4-0 with just over 15 minutes left when Crawford's header was saved from a corner and centre back Aaron Stewart had the easy task to score from close range.

A terrific United performance was capped off when late on a fifth was scored after Daley Carnduff's pass allowed Long to wip in a cross, which was met on the head by substitute Lemon and Lee McCaughern got the final touch to cap off a brilliant display and a 5-0 win.

The reserve team's next game will be next Friday evening against Carrick Rangers in the Steel and Son's Cup.
