The Braidmen entered their first Irish Cup quarter-final in three years looking to amend their desperate record in the showpiece competition which has seen the Sky Blues win only three games against top-flight opposition since winning the trophy back in 1989.

Despite only making one change from last week's dire stalemate against Newry City as Gavin Taggart returned from suspension to replace the ineligible Gary Muir, manager Roy Walker made wholesale positional changes as Andy Smith returned to his familiar striking berth and in-form goalscorer Mark Surgenor returning to the heart of the United defence.
